Kimball Chatfield LAc., OMD
Kimball Chatfield graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Natural Resource Management, hoping to become an interpreter naturalist in the National Park Service. When government hiring was put on hold he began to turn his interest to natural health care. He became fascinated with the idea that the human body could be induced to heal faster and better and resist disease more enthusiastically, with compounds such as herbs and nutritional supplements and therapies such as acupuncture, that could make the body more efficient. He attended naturopathic medical college for three years and then graduated from the California Acupuncture College. He has taught acupuncture and clinical nutrition at three acupuncture colleges. Most recently he taught Botanical Medicine and Medicinal Plants of the Sierra Nevada at Lake Tahoe Community College. He has authored hundreds of articles on acupuncture, nutrition, environmental health, and botanical medicine. He has written two books, Medicine From the Mountains: Medicinal Plants of the Sierra Nevada, and Astragalus: Ancient Herb for Modern Times. He divides his practice of acupuncture and natural medicine in two locations, at Lake Tahoe Acupuncture and Wellness in South Lake Tahoe, and also Woodfords, in Alpine county.
